This program allows highly motivated students to begin taking graduate courses in their senior year, accelerating their graduate studies while still at the undergraduate level and while paying undergraduate tuition and fees. The Combined Advanced Degree BA/MS degree program allows interested and qualified students to complete the Rowan University Computer Science Department’s Bachelor of Arts in Computing & Informatics and Master of Science in Cybersecurity in a shorter time — usually in five years rather than six.
- Discuss with your Academic Advisor about your interest in the program and process of transfer to Rowan University.
- Complete your admissions application and student agreement form during the last semester of your junior year by the application deadline of December 31 for Spring entry, or June 30 for Fall entry.
- Your application is then reviewed by the CS Department Graduate Committee for admission approval. The Committee will be looking for a high CI GPA (minimum 3.0 for consideration) and two strong letters of recommendation.
- During your senior year, you enroll at Rowan University and complete four graduate courses (instead of the four restricted electives that are required for the undergraduate degree). These four graduate courses count as your restricted electives, at the less expensive undergraduate tuition rate.
- After completion of all undergraduate degree requirements, students may continue as a full-time or part-time Rowan students while completing graduate credits, for which you are charged the graduate tuition rate.
- Notice that you receive your Bachelors and your Masters in five years (instead of the 4 + 2 years of a traditional MS degree, if enrolled full-time) while paying for only 18 graduate credits (instead of 30).
- Be enrolled in the 3 + 1 Community College to Computing & Informatics at Rowan University Program.
- Complete 75 credits towards the Computing & Informatics major. Discuss the logistics of completion with your advisor.
- Earn a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have a Banner ID assigned to you.
- Obtain two letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with your academic performance.
- If they agree to your recommendation, they can submit their letters directly to mscyber@rowan.edu with the subject line “Graduate Committee: Recommendation for (your name)”.
- Complete the application and all required materials for submission by the deadlines: December 31 for spring entry, or June 30 for Fall entry.
