The demand for skilled professionals in computer science is surging, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting a remarkable 22% growth in employment for computer and information technology occupations from 2020 to 2030, significantly faster than the average for all occupations. This growth reflects the increasing reliance on technology across various sectors, including finance, healthcare, education, and entertainment. As organizations continue to innovate and enhance their digital infrastructures, the need for computer scientists, software developers, systems analysts, and cybersecurity experts has never been greater.
This program is designed for highly motivated students who are passionate about advancing their careers in the technology sector. It enables qualified students to begin taking graduate courses during their senior year, allowing them to accelerate their graduate studies while still completing their undergraduate degree and paying undergraduate tuition and fees. The ADDP BS/MS degree program offers an opportunity for interested and qualified students to complete the Rowan University Computer Science Department’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computer Science in a condensed timeframe — typically in five years instead of six.
- Submit an interest form via this page. Next, you will need to submit the appropriate admissions and student agreement forms found on the ADDP resources page.
- Your application is then reviewed by the CS Graduate Committee for admission approval. The Committee will be looking for a high CS GPA and two strong letters of recommendation.
- During your senior year, you enroll and complete four graduate courses (instead of the four restricted electives that are required for the undergraduate degree). These four graduate courses count as your restricted electives, and you get to pay for these 12 graduate credits at the less expensive undergraduate tuition rate.
- You continue enrollment as a full-time Rowan student for one more year while you complete additional graduate credits, for which you are charged the graduate tuition rate.
- Notice that you receive your Bachelors and your Masters in five years (instead of the 4 + 2 years of a traditional MS degree) while paying for only 18 graduate credits (instead of 30).
- Complete 75 credits towards the Computer Science major at Rowan University. Discuss the logistics of completion with your advisor.
- Earn a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have a Banner ID assigned to you.
- Obtain two letters of recommendation from faculty members familiar with your academic performance.
- If they agree to your recommendation, they can submit their letters directly to hos@rowan.edu with the subject line “Graduate Committee: Recommendation for (your name)”.
- Complete the application and all required materials for submission by the deadlines: December 31 for spring entry, or June 30 for Fall entry.
- Materials can be sent to hos@rowan.edu for the Computer Science program.
